Ambit Corp announces Skything tm

7-25-2008: SkyThing Announces A Better WiFi in the Sky: AMBIT Corporation announced today that it will offer its proprietary internet service system "SkyThing" to US-based airlines, communications providers, and other entities. The SkyThing system could double the number of revenue-producing in-flight users and provide more convenient access to business and vacation travelers, it is believed; "Passengers on short flights are more likely to use our system to purchase products and services" explained Robert J Crowley, president of AMBIT Corporation that currently owns the SkyThing product plan and system rights. "Our estimates say that we can double the number of users and more than double the expected revenue for any given flight segment using our system."

SkyThing.com is a web portal and wireless data relay system business model specifically designed for in-flight internet access that can be optimized for convenience, and revenue production. Unlike some proposed pay-for-access systems, SkyThing provides multi-tiered access to passengers, and significant filtered content at no charge. Revenue is generated when passengers purchase goods and services through free access channels. SkyThing is also unlike free systems and enables email access that can be configured by the system owner to share revenues with other wifi hotspot service providers, under appropriate agreements. "It's a more friendly way to allow people to enjoy the benefits of the service and increase profitability to the system operator at the same time" said Crowley. "Our system is not confined to land-based towers, which have very limited spectrum and bandwidth allocations, and it can communicate under appropriate agreements with both land-based and high bandwidth satellite services already in orbit. For that reason, overall, it is more attractive to airlines, and to the major communications providers."

SkyThing is a product of AMBIT Corporation of Massachusetts, a technology company established in 1993 to develop next-generation communications and sensor systems. The company engages in research, product development and commercialization in consumer audio, nanotechnology, cellular and wifi systems.
